Beware: This is not about the change in temperature or acclimatization. The reason is something much worse! Many drivers take this for granted and we are going to explain why you should never turn on the A/C right after getting into the car.
The major reason why you should never turn on the A/C right away is the effect it has on your health. When the car is parked in shade it actually produces 400-800 mg of benzene. Benzene, also known as benzol, is colorless liquid with a sweet odor. It is soluble in water, it evaporates in the air quickly, and it is extremely flammable!
Benzene is used in the manufacture of plastics, explosives, paints, and as solvent. When exposed to external temperatures, the amount of produced benzene in the car can reach up to 4,000 mg, which is 40 times more than the recommended.
This means that if we leave the windows closed when entering the car, we breathe in huge amounts of benzene, which in turn causes damage to the kidneys, liver, and the bones.
The worst part is that the body is unable to get rid of this toxic substance easily and much of it ends up trapped inside. Therefore, what can we do regarding this issue?
When entering the car, open the windows or doors and ventilate the inside of the car for at least 2-5 minutes. Then, turn the A/C on and get rid of the accumulated toxins.
