The cough is sometimes easy and it goes away quickly, but sometimes it is pretty annoying and it gets persistent over time. If it is still present for more than a week or so, even though this is perfectly normal occurrence it should be treated.
A great tool against such respiratory conditions, including cough and colds is onion. Onion if taken raw can act as a good expectorant.
Flavonoids and sulfur compounds, contained in the onion, can be very beneficial for the heart and for treating health conditions and different diseases such as cholesterol levels, arthritis, diabetes etc. The onion is also a great antioxidant.
Ingredients:
- 101 oz / 3 liters of water
- 2.2 lbs / 1 kg of onions
Preparation:
Remove the skin and the moustache from the onions and cut them into four pieces. In a pot put the onion pieces together with the water and cook until the water starts boiling. Continue cooking until half of the water evaporates. Let the mixture cool down and then strain it.
Consume 1.5 glasses of the resulting liquid 2 times a day. You can add honey and/or lemon juice if you want to improve this beverage’s taste.

- 14 walnuts
- 2 medium sized onions
- 2 medium sized organic apples
Method of preparation:
First wash the onions, clean them and cut each onion into four pieces. Do the same thing with the apples and clean and crush the walnuts. In a bowl pour the water and put all of the ingredients, and place the bowl on fire. Cook until half of the water is left in the bowl.
Take 1 cup of the resulting liquid 3 times a day. In order to improve the liquid’s taste feel free to add honey and/or little bit of lemon juice.
