Garlic is a great remedy for yeast infections – bakers know not to add it to garlic bread while the dough is rising, as it will kill the yeast and ruin the bread. The vegetable is added to the dough right before baking, when the yeast has completed its function.
Besides killing yeast in dough, garlic can also cure yeast infections easily. Women who suffer from recurrent yeast infections know how difficult they can be to treat. The infections are also not noticeably early, which makes them even more difficult to treat later. The first day it’s only a simple itch, while 2-3 days later, the vaginal discharge is lumpy, which is a clear sign of a full-blown vaginal yeast infection.
It is very important to learn how to recognize the early signs of yeast infections, and you can do that with a simple treatment. Take a fresh garlic clove and peel it, then put the clove into your vagina before going to bed. In the morning, remove and throw the clove away. The piece of garlic will cause a watery discharge, but this is totally normal. Of course, one treatment won’t be enough, so you will need to repeat the procedure again for a couple of nights. The treatment is usually performed during the night as there’s a connection between the vagina and the mouth – as soon as they placed the clove in your vagina, some people have reported feeling the taste of garlic in their mouth, which can be unpleasant during the day.
This treatment is effective in the early stages of yeast infections. However, if the infection has advanced, you will need to use more garlic. First, use a dry tissue to remove all the discharge, then cut a garlic clove in half and insert it into your vagina. Repeat the process until you notice improvements. Never use douching during a vaginal yeast infection as the yeast loves water and will continue to grow!
Every cut made into the garlic will make it stronger – the more the inside is exposed, the higher the dose of garlic. Every woman should learn the proper dose for herself – some will benefit from an uncut clove, while others will need a bigger clove cut in half.
When you insert a cut clove in the vagina, it may “burn” the healthy skin. If a woman is suffering from an advanced yeast infection, the skin may already be inflamed, but the garlic will cure the infection and the skin will repair itself. Vegetarians have been using the vegetable to kill infections in livestock for years, and if Big Pharma patents garlic, they would be making millions of it! That’s how powerful garlic is.
Garlic is also a great anti-bacterial agent which has been confirmed by in vitro studies. According to a Chinese study, the vegetable can kill the following bacteria: Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus vulgaris, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium phlei, Streptococcus faecalis, Bacillus cereus and Micrococcus luteus.
For bacterial infections, garlic should be used raw. Scientists have discovered that garlic loses its anti-bacterial properties 20 minutes after being boiled on 100C, which means that it is heat and acid-labile. Studies have shown that fresh garlic can even kill Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Strep – GBS) which can kill newborns and premature babies.
Inserting a fresh garlic clove into the vagina can eliminate GBS easily, but still, no big pharmaceutical company is interesting into funding a research, probably because they can’t patent a natural ingredient. These studies can’t be conducted in the USA due to the standard of care established by the CDC.
Here’s how to use garlic against vaginal yeast infections:
Break a garlic clove first, then peel it off and cut it in half. Sew a string through it so you can easily remove it later. Next, insert the clove in your vagina before going to bed and go to sleep.
In the morning, pull the string gently and take the clove out. People usually taste the garlic until it’s inside, so if you’re feeling the taste in your mouth, you haven’t gotten it out yet.
