This syrup is so tasty that you can “sip” just for pure pleasure. The laurel gives a special flavor and tone of sweetness and bitterness, while the lemon adds acidity and sugar which are the main components that “drive” the ingredients with water in the circulation in the body. Try it.
You will need:
- 6 laurel leaves
- 5 oz of water
- 6 tablespoons of sugar (it is best to use a brown, muscovado sugar)
- 1 lemon
Preparation:
Boil the water in a pot. Then add the laurel leaves and cook it covered for 6 – 10 minutes.
Remove the laurel leaves, pour it into a container in which you are going to prepare the syrup, mix in the sugar and squeeze a whole lemon. Mix everything well and wait until all the sugar melts. Take a teaspoon of the syrup several times a day. The first day take a teaspoon every time when there is intense coughing.
NOTE:
You can keep the syrup stored in the refrigerator for several days.
It can be consumed cold or warm. If you have other symptoms of a cold, after the syrup it is useful to additionally take a slice of lemon, peel it and chew the rest of the lemon.
