What if you are able to grow a herbs and lettuce in your house through the whole year? Now this is possible with the hydroponic indoor garden system presented by IKEA. You will be able to grow vegetables in your house, and gardening experience is not a must!
How Does It Work?
This garden has unique hydroponic system. This means that it doesn’t use soil for growing plants, only proper light and water. There are vegetables on the market that are grown in this way. The seeds sprout with the help of foam plugs that are included in this system. The seeds are moist thanks to these foam plugs without over-watering. Once the seeds germinate, you will need to put the foam plug into its own little pot and add the pumice stones in it, which can withhold plenty of water. You will need to put the pots into growing tray which has solar lamp. This lamp is important because it nourishes the plants during the year. You can place your seeds near your windowsill that is highly exposed to the sun. The growing tray has water sensor, which checks the moist level of your plants and makes sure that your plants are watered regularly.
“The challenge was to make growing plants in a hydroponic system which can be used by anyone…”- says Helena Karlén, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
This is an amazing system! The agricultural scientists from Sweden helped to design the system. This is ideal for the people who live in apartments or have small yard. It will provide you with fresh products in the winter days as well.
When Can You Get It?
Maybe it is unexpected that IKEA would sell this, but the company planned this for long period of time. The price is still unknown, but this product will be launched at the market in April.
This is not the first indoor hydroponic system, but it is surely the best one ever.
